Pontoon Rules

 Where to Play Pontoon?

The main point of the Pontoon game

This is British variety of Black Jack game. The aim of the game is to get the better cards combination. In case of the equaling of cards combinations of both the player and the dealer the player loses.

The best combination is “Pontoon” consisting of the Ace plus one of the Kings, Queens, Valets or tens. It is paid in correlation of 2:1.

Note: some casinos have the rule that the Ace + King or Queen or Valet Pontoon wins the Ace + ten Pontoon. Another one has the rule that Ace + ten combinations are not Pontoon but just 21 points.

The way of the Pontoon game

The pack of cards for the game contains 52 cards. The quantity of the packs of the cards used in the Pontoon can be from one till eight. The cards distribution is executed for each player turn by turn. The dealer gets the cards the last. No one can have more then 5 cards.

All the cards have determined values:

The Ace has one or eleven points.

The Kings, the Queens, the Valets have 10 points.

All other cards have the values in corresponding with their face values. 

King Pontoon

This is combination of 7+7+7. It is paid in correlation of 3:1.

Note: this combination is determined in dependence of the casino’s rules.

5-Card Trick

This cards combination consists of the five cards. The general sum of the cards in it can be 21 or less. In case this combination is winning, it is paid in correlation of 3:2.

All another cards combinations win or lose in correlation of 1:1. 

Buy cards

This is doubling of the bet in case the sum of the points is less then 21. Having doubled the bet having two cards the player gets one additional card. The player can get or buy cards till their quantity wont 5. Have refused to buy cards the player can’t to return to the buying he can only to get cards one by one.  

Note: some casinos have the rule that the buying is impossible if the player has the cards of four points (four Aces).

Split

One of the differences between Black Jack and Pontoon is the split in Pontoon is possible only on the cards of the same rank, for instance Valet + Valet. Another one difference is that the split is possible a lot of times. 

Note: some casinos have the rule that split is possible only on the Aces.

Surrender

Surrender is possible any time no matter the dealer’s cards.
